Here's the latest update on Phase 1 of the One Card Project.

Core System:

  1. New DolphinOne and guest cards have been designed and submitted to vendor for manufacture. Estimated delivery for newly produced cards is June 14.
  2. BlackBoard Transaction System (BBTS) upgrade has been installed; testing and configuration tweaks are in progress.

Campus Dining:
  1. Meeting is scheduled for tomorrow for a subgroup to discuss campus dining timeline and outstanding issues.

Card Services:
  1. Documentation of organizational support in progress. Terms of Service (ToS) document for One Card support is about 30% complete. This document will largely define procedures regarding typical card support processes (such as help for card system problems, service outages, lost/damaged/stolen cards, refunds, etc).
  2. Card Services Web site has been launched; includes project roadmap.

PHIL Stations:
  1. The PHIL stations are the automated card-charging and guest card issue kiosks.
  2. A work request has been submitted to Operations, Planning and Construction (OPC) for installation of first PHIL station (to be located in the Broome Library). Completion date for work is to be determined.

PHAROS Phase 1:
A parallel PHAROS core system has been upgraded from v7 to v8. This upgrade includes integration with BBTS to enable swipe-to-release printing using the DolphinOne card. The upgraded v8 will continue to run in parallel (for the time being) with v7. Testing of the PHAROS v8 system with current students is in progress.

The version 8 system will be initially used for 2 devices in the University Library:
  • one device in Computer Room (BRO 1330) for color & black-and-white printing only; and
  • one device on the 1st floor (behind Freudian Sip) for color printing and copying.
Go-live for these two devices is scheduled for Tuesday, June 8. In the meanwhile, Summer session students at the University will continue to use the existing PaperCut printing system until the new devices are launched.
